Hosting weddings since 2012, the dedicated team at Briar House Barns have helped countless couples plan their perfect wedding day and bring their dream wedding visions to life.  We totally understand that there is a lot to consider when planning your big day, so we’ve put together a list of our most commonly asked questions so that all the information that you need is right at your fingertips.

Where can we get married at Briar House Barns?

Here at Briar House Barns we are licenced to hold non-religious ceremonies that are conducted by a registrar in 3 different locations – The Stone Barn, The Bridge Lawns and The Flower Meadow. The Stone Barn can host ceremonies of up to 70 guests and has a small private room adjacent to the main ceremony room for signing the wedding register. The Bridge Lawns and The Flower Meadow are our outside ceremony locations used in the summer months, where we can hold wedding ceremonies with large numbers of guests.

The Stone Barn can also be used for small wedding receptions for up to 40 guests, and for larger celebrations The Great Barn is the perfect venue. Able to comfortably accommodate up to 300 guests, or even up to1000 guests by arrangement, with a terrace and outside area for drinks and canapes in the summer months, it also comes equipped with a bar, large dance floor area and ample facilities for caterers.

Is Briar House Barns accessible for wheelchair users?

You will find that all areas of our wedding venue are fully accessible for any of your guests that may be wheelchair users. We have ramp access to both The Stone Barn and The Great Barn and both outdoor ceremony spaces are also easily accessed. We can also ensure dedicated accessible parking spaces are available in our large car park if required.

Can we have fireworks at Briar House Barns?

Fireworks make such a special moment for you as a newly married couple and your guests to enjoy, not to mention the amazing photo opportunities. We do allow fireworks at Briar House Barns but ask that the display is held no later than 10.30pm at night. We kindly request that you use either our preferred supplier or a reputable firework company who will ensure that you enjoy a spectacular display whilst also being mindful of our rural location and the wildlife found in our venue grounds. In addition, because of our location silent fireworks are the preferred choice.

Is there plenty of parking at Briar House Barns?

We have a large car park at the venue where your guests can leave their vehicles for the day, and overnight at the owners’ risk if they wish, as long as they are collected by 11am the following morning.  Please be mindful that we are a rural location and that the road to the venue is single track and so larger vehicles may find their access restricted. The maximum vehicle size is a single decker coach.  We do have several reputable taxi firms in the area who have small minibuses available, however we recommend that they are booked in advance as they can get very busy, especially at the weekend. Please contact us if you would like a list of local taxi firms.

What time can our wedding reception go on until?

Although Briar House Barns is in a very rural location, we like to be respectful to our neighbours and therefore ask that all music ends by 11.00pm and that you and your guests have left the venue by midnight, unless special arrangements have been previously agreed.

What drinks do you offer at Briar House Barns?

All drinks that are served at Briar House Barns can be chosen by the couple prior to the wedding and either provided by you or sourced by us.  Couples have the use of a Pimm’s Bar on the Bridge  Lawn  and  we have a purpose built bar area within The Great Barn. We also offer table wines served with no corkage fees.

If you are providing the drinks, then we can help you in deciding on quantities once we know your guest numbers. If you would like us to source your alcohol, and there is a particular drink that you would like to be available, please let us know and we will do our best to provide it for you.  We find that many couples like to put some money behind the bar for their guests’ initial drinks, however once this has been exhausted, we would like to make you aware that we offer only a cashless bar and only card payments will be accepted.

These are just a few examples of questions asked by our couples and those who visit us at Briar House Barns, however if you have any questions that are not covered here please contact us at info@briarhousbarns.co.uk
